My Approach
My role as a therapist is to walk alongside clients and help in navigating the pathway to change in a safe, respectful and non-judgmental space. I bring a compassionate nature and strong desire to help those who may need help to gain clarity or to tackle an overwhelming life situation. I work with individuals, parents and couples and feel privileged to be able to do so.
My Areas of Focus
Trauma, Anxiety & Depression
A traumatic event is not over when it is over - we are vulnerable to it’s impact long after we have survived it. Healing from trauma is possible when understanding the symptoms and reactions that linger on and impact our lives. Working through the parts of us that are struggling with past traumas, we can learn to help those parts and our nervous system to feel less overwhelmed and react less.
Parenting Support
It’s the toughest job in the world and we all need support along the way. As a family therapist, I work with the family system and the relational patterns of interactions within families. Problems are viewed as a pattern or system that needs adjustment, while not viewing the problems as residing in an individual. Parenting techniques and strategies are explored as a way to change problematic behaviours, improve attachments and strengthen relationships.
Relationships
Based upon the proven research, the strategies and techniques I use, focus on emotional connection, building skills for managing conflicts which are inevitable in any relationship, and helping couples to create a system of shared meaning. Most importantly, we work towards breaking repeated patterns and make lasting meaningful change.
Life Transitions / Grief
Individual counselling is available to help people facing loss, life challenges, making difficult decisions or looking to make a lasting change. Personalized treatment plans are made in collaboration with clients in different life spaces.
